RP consulting mapped the’ as is’ process for supplying remote hospitals and recorded how much blood required destroying as it had gone beyond its expiry date. Robert Potter designed a new distribution process introducing Kan Ban to the system so that when a blood product in a remote location is nearing its expiry date it automatically issues an order for a replacement, while placing itself on a transfer to a busy hospital where it will be used. RP consulting then worked with Universal trace to assist in the implementation of the proof of concept of a system to manage this new process.
